Tour Itinerary
Day 1
Late morning flight from Reykjavík to Ilulissat. Arrival to Ilulissat in the early noon. We recommend you take a walk to the Sermermiut by the icefjord which is a classified UNESCO World Heritage site. You end the day with an evening trip to explore the sunlid icebergs. Night in Hotel.Day 2
4 hours whale watching trip between the floating icebergs in the Disco Bay. Sailing at the edge of Ilulissat icefjord you enter the famous UNESCO World Haritage site. The water in this area is very nutritious due to the big icebergs and the strong underwater current created from the glacier front 40 km up the fjord. This means there might be a whale or two to spot. While waiting for the whales to appear you can enjoy the breathtaking view of the unbelievably big icebergs and if you look closely you might just spot a seal! Night in Hotel.Day 3
We recommend that you on this day see some of the highlights of Ilulissat town, Ilulissat’s old church facing the Icefjord and the Knud Rasmussen museum. Knud Rasmussen was a Greenlandic/Danish polar explorer and anthropologist. On Knud Rasmussen’s 100th birthday his birth home was turned into a museum. Even though the museum is fairly small it contains an amazing amount of info about Knud Rasmussen and general history of Greenland. After this you can do a little souvenir shopping in the nearby souvenir shops. Flight back around noon to Iceland. -
